Busy, Busy...

We have finally recovered from the camping trip this weekend. It was really cold both nights, that second morning everything was covered in a nice layer of frost, but the days were great and we enjoyed hiking around the mountains in Silverton, CO and driving some trails. We got more rocks, of course, from the old mines in Silverton. We can’t make a trip there without getting at least a hand full for the house/yard and for Jonathan’s office.

We’ve got a busy next couple of weeks.

Thursday night we are going to our friends from LA house for some “Cajun” dancing. Their aunt is a professional dancer and they are having some friends over for gumbo, pralines and other LA favorites and dance lessons. She’s going to be teaching the Jitter Bug, two stepping and the Waltz. I’m excited I got Jonathan to agree to do this. I think it will be a lot of fun.

This Saturday we are having a co-bachelor/bachelorette party in Durango for our friends Curt & Erin that are getting married next weekend. We should have a 20 people coming. It should be a good time.

Then next week we have the rehearsal Thursday night and the wedding Saturday. I'll be busy all day Saturday since I'm the "go to" person for Erin. She doesn't want to know about any problems or questions so I will be helping out with all of that since I helped with a lot of the initial details with her vendors. I will have to drive to the location really early to be there by around 8-9. It’s North of Durango (approx. 1 hr. ½ drive) so I’m going to have a long day with all of that. But I'm excited, it will be a fun day.

Jonathan and I have been playing a lot of ping pong lately on our new table. It’s currently in the garage so it gets hot fast, but we hope to fix up our backyard soon and move out under the patio. We’ve also been playing a lot of pool with friends after work. I’m pretty horrible, but it’s a lot of fun to wind down after work before heading home.

Tooth Update

Ins response the to post below:

The vet said the tooth looked okay and to keep an eye on it. Since it's a "baby" tooth it should fall out and the new tooth will be in soon.

Yay! :)

Like pulling teeth....Literally

Last night I was outside playing with Daphne. I was sneaking up on her and she was getting ready to run, because she loves being chased. She turned her head fast and smacked her face, really hard, into the bar on our patio. I instantly paniced and went over to her. She was making a weird face and opening and stretching her mouth.

Once I got her to calm down from the shock of it and being hurt, I check out her mouth and noticed her canine was split down the middle (top to bottom). I panic again, and try and find Jonathan who is oblivious at this point. I get inside and he check it out.

We don't know what to do, never seen a dog crack a tooth! :) We google it! And decide we will keep and eye on her and see what happens. In about 5 minutes half of the tooth falls out on the floor. There is no blood and she looks to be fine, so we think she will be fine. She's chewing on her raw hide, she's fine. The rest of the tooth is pretty sharp and jagged looking though.

This morning I made sure to watch her eat her food and make sure she could eat okay. She did great. When I got home for lunch I check her out again. She seemed fine but there was food stuck in the tooth and looked to be in the gum which was a little white at the top of the tooth.and she was pawing at her mouth.

I called the vet, talked with the treatment specialist and they suggested the tooth get pulled to avoid an infection. The tooth will fall out since she's a puppy but that could make it more difficult. I made an appointment for this afternoon to have her tooth pulled. I'm leaving work early and taking her in in an hour. They will have to put her under for this procedure.

I'm happy she's going to be okay. I didn't

We are going camping tonight, so this should be interesting. She's probably going to be sleeping all evening.

Latest and greatest

I have been seriously slacking on my updates lately. We have had an extremely busy summer and it's not over yet. Pretty soon things will slow down again.

We had a great visit from my mom, sis, niece and grandmother a few weeks back. They were here for 4 days. It was fun to show them where we live and the things we like to do. I took lots of pictures and will post them soon. The video of Addison dancing to Jonathan playing guitar that I posted a few posts back is from that trip.

I have started my new job. Currently, I am still waiting on new office furniture to arrive so I am sitting him the office of the guy training me. Once the furniture gets here he and I will move into a large office and split it. It should work out well. I'm excited about my job so far. I do have a lot to learn, but the basics of what I will be doing I understand. But gaining the in-depth knowledge of generators and motors that I'm lacking on currently. I'm slowing catching on. My supv. has started a class two night a weeks for a few of us in the office. I have found them very helpful so far.

We taught Daphne to shake recently. She's pretty smart and got it after 4-5 tries. We are trying to train her to stop whining and waking us up so early, but that's not going so well. She's getting better. If she gets in enough trouble she'll learn. :) It might help if I didn't fold so easy. She's only 4 months so she's doing great for being so young.

We are going camping next weekend, Aug. 14-16 in Silverton, CO. It should be a good sized group. About 8-10 people. We'll go hiking and ride some trails through the mountains.

Last weekend my friend Laurelin and I hosted a bridal shower for our friend Erin at our house. We had a great time playing games and had lots of good food. A new hire at COP, Andrew, helped my make the cake for the shower. It was delicious!! I will make it again for sure. It was chocolate cake with layers of fresh whipped cream and rasperry jam. The icing was homemade with choc. chips and sour cream. I tasted professional! He is very popular with the ladies from the shower now! :) Too bad they were all married! haha.

I have been helping Erin plan her wedding and will be the "go-to" person on the wedding day, Aug. 29th. I'll handle all the problem that may occur so Erin doesn't have to know about them. It should be a fun day.

Jonathan and I are trying to get our house fixed up some more before we have more family visiting in September and October. We want to get the paint in the house done by then, but we'll see. I want to fix out backyard but it's too late to lay new sod. We'll just have to deal with the nasty yard until next spring.
