It's been too long since my last update. We have been hanging around the house a lot lately. We had some beautiful weather for a few days in March and then almost 2 feet of snow fell. We haven't been able to do too much with all the snow. Now the days are in the 40's more frequently and the snow is starting to melt we've been able to get out more.

Daphne has been loving the nice weather. She has found a perch at the stop of our stairs where she can see out the entry way window. It looks so goofy when she sits like this I had to capture it.

She is also loving laying in the sun outside.

We got our safe in last weekend. After some garage re-arranging we it's a perfect fit.

I started to learn to knit a few weeks ago. I'm working a hat and it's coming along well I think. I've been working on it slowly but I'm getting quicker each time.

We took a drive to Hatcher's Pass last weekend. It is about 40 minutes away between Palmer & Willow. The Palmer side is all that's open in the winter. It's a beautiful drive.

There are lots of ski and snow mobile trails throughout.

Jonathan's not the only chef in the house, I just don't like to show off too much! :) Tonight's dish was yummy!

Prime Sirloin topped with a rosemary & red wine reduction andcrispy fried onions, sauteed spinach, and black rice.

Iditarod

It's Iditarod time in Alaska. We went to the "start" of the race in downtown Anchorage this morning. The official start is tomorrow afternoon in Willow. Today's start was more of a ceremonial start, tomorrow the race is on.

It was fun to see all of the dogs. They are much smaller than I expected and full of energy. When they are waiting around they are very excited and talkative. Then once they are in line to race it's all business and ready to do their job.

Waiting to race and very excited pups!
(There is some talking in the background but most of the noise in the video is from the dogs all around)

Last weekend we took a drive south to Girdwood, AK. It was a very windy day, but it was a beautiful clear day!!

Northern Lights
We saw them from our temporary apartment in Anchorage amidst all the city lights and both decided to hop in the car and head out of town to a place where we could see the better. These were taken from near Eklutna, AK just north of Eagle River / Anchorage.

Sunset at Beluga Point
The sunsets in Anchorage are amazing especially reflecting on the inlet. They are very colorful and beautiful each day.

Matanuska Glacier
On one of Jonathan's days off he took a drive to Matanuska Glacier and hiked around on it.

Jonathan is getting ready to head to the North Slope tomorrow morning. I think he'll stay warm....

There is a layer of FRC shirt & pants, Bibs, vest, jacket, stocking cap, hard hat and parka. Oh and -150 rated boots.

It's only emergency gear, he will be in normal FRC clothes while working.
