Ski Trip

Jonathan and I went skiing today for the first time this season! We went to Hesperus, CO to a small ski area there. ( http://www.ski-hesperus.com/ ) We went with another couple that we've become great friends with, Curt & Erin. Erin and I took ski lessons and Jonathan got to try snowboarding for the first time. He had a lesson as well. Curt's a pro so he went and explored the mountain while we all had lessons.

It was snowing all day while we were skiing so visibility was almost non-existent, which made it a little harder. We couldn't see the hills very well until we were there and either slowed down as fast as we could or were slowed down by the incline!

It was a lot of fun!! I can't wait to have a chance to try it out again.

Welcome 2009

Jonathan and I celebrated the end of 2008 in Durango, CO with friends! We had a great time and feel blessed to have had an amazing 2008.

We finally became college graduates in May 2008. We married our best friends on May 17th and moved to New Mexico. Although the year was challenging at time with all that was happening and needed to happen with school, moving and the wedding. We got through it and have enjoyed 7 months of marriage to one another. Thank you all for the love and support you gave us throughout the year. We could not have gotten through everything without each other and you!

On to 2009...

Jonathan and I had a great Christmas! Thank you for your cards and love you sent our way! We had a great time spending our first Christmas as a married couple together.

This Christmas felt strange to me. Not being with family, in Oklahoma, and doing the same things I've done since I can remember on Christmas was surreal. Since Jonathan and I will not be able to make it back to Oklahoma for most holidays and events that are happening, we'll have to find our own way to celebrate these times and I'm sure that will feel right soon.

Jonathan and I were able to go to a few Christmas parties with ConocoPhillips the week before Christmas. It was a lot of fun to meet more of his coworkers and spend time with friends.

We were lucky enough to have Robert & Lisa spend a week with us in Farmington. The night they arrived as soon as they got into Farmington, half of the town lost all power. So, they got to our house and we had no lights, no heat, nothing. It was pretty funny, but that didn't last too long.

We spent quite a bit of time in Durango, CO. It was beautiful there when we were up there. They had just received a foot of snow two days in a row so the mountains were covered. We were able to spend some time walking through Durango's downtown (Main St.) and looking at all the beautiful local art galleries and jewelry work from local artisans. Beautiful stuff!! That was a lot of fun. Downtown Durango is were most of the good restaurants are. We ate at two really great one's. Mutu's & The Mahagony Grille. The were both amazing! It was so much fun to try new places and food.

We also were able to spend a day at a spa (Trimble Hot Springs & Spa http://www.trimblehotsprings.com/ ) AMAZING!!! We all were able to soak in the hot springs before out massages. Sitting outside in the hot spring with snow and icicles everywhere around us was a lot of fun to experience. I can't wait to have a chance to return.

Jonathan and I plan to be back in Oklahoma twice so far in the upcoming year. I'm sure we'll at least be back once more too. We have two friends getting married next summer. One on May 2nd, and another on June 13th. We plan to make a 3-4 day weekend out of each trip so we can save vacation days for a long trip sometime.

We always love having company. It would be a great treat for us to have some family or friends come stay with us and visit the area. The summer offers endless activites, but the winter has lots of skiing, snowboarding, snow mobiling, etc. to do. Really, anytime!!

Internet and phones

Our internet has been down the past few days. It's on off and on today for some reason, but usually for just minutes at a time. My email is down as well. If you need to contact us until we get this fixed cell phones are the safest way to get a hold of us. Mine is 405-590-2421, Jonathan's 405-590-1599.

The Latest...

Jonathan and I finally rested this past weekend. We spend Saturday laying around watching football! Those days are always lots of fun, especially when we get to watch OU win their 3rd Big 12 Championship in a row!!

We got our Christmas decorations up. We don't have a lot this year, but enough for now!! :) I'm the worst about buying Christmas gifts and not being able to hold off giving them until Christmas. I've already started asking Jonathan if he's ready to open his. I'll let you know later what I got him and why I'm so excited about giving it to him.

We finally have all the furniture we inherited from Robert and Lisa arranged how we like it. Now we're in the middle of moving clothes from old to new dressers, etc. I have not been in the mood to do any of moving, but I'm slowly getting there. This is also giving me a chance to go through clothes and get rid of the old, the things that don't fit, or those that I never wear. Jonathan's been doing that too.

We're getting the guest room ready for our first visitors since we had a bedroom set in our guest room. Jonathan's parents will be in New Mexico for a few days the week of Christmas! I am really EXCITED! I'm sad I won't be in Oklahoma for Christmas but really happy they will be here with us to celebrate the holiday. I can't wait to make a holiday meal for them. We are also hoping Josh and Kelsy Jo can make it out between their work schedules.

Josh and Kelsy Jo were married this weekend. We were unable to make it back to Oklahoma for the wedding, but I'm anxious to see the pictures and video. I realized Saturday as I was thinking about them and their big day that Kelsy Jo is my only sister-in-law I will have. I hadn't thought about that before. I'm excited to get to know her better and become friends with her.

Time to slow down!!

It's been a while since I've posted anything. Jonathan and I have been going non-stop for almost two weeks. We're both exhausted and can't wait for this weekend to relax and get some much needed rest.

We were in Oklahoma for the week of Thanksgiving and Jonathan just returned from a 2 day COP event in Norman that he was involved with. We had a great time in Oklahoma, no matter how tired it made us!

We left Farmington at 2AM!!!!!!!! Friday Nov. 21st. The drive was good, and we arrive in Edmond at Thad & Renee's around 3:30. We were able to stay with them throughout the week. Saturday morning we got up and headed to Norman for the OU/TX Tech game. We spent the afternoon with two of our best friends from school which was great. We had an AWESOME time at the football game. It was one of, if not my best experience at a football game ever. The fans were all excited and the team played awesome. We're very thankful we got to use my grandpa's tickets. (Thanks again Papa!!!) After the game we headed back to Edmond and got back around 1am.

Sunday morning we woke up early and went to Langley, Oklahoma to see Jonathan's parents, brother and his fiance. It was great to see all of them. It had been a while. We stayed there Monday then headed back to OKC. We stopped in Tulsa and had lunch with a friend on the way.

We spend Monday and Tuesday in OKC and then Wednesday went to Shawnee and Ardmore. Thanksgiving day we were in Ardmore then back to Edmond. Friday we went back to Langley, rented a UHaul, and loaded it full of furniture that Robert and Lisa were nice enough to give us. We filled a 26' truck full. I was very overwhelmed but it all fit into our duplex somehow!! :)

Sunday we headed back to OKC and celebrated Granny Lou & Grandpa Steve's 50th Anniversary and Granny Lou's birthday. After a great time with the family we headed back to New Mexico. We stopped in Tucumcari, NM just in time to check in to our hotel and watch the last quarter of OU beating OSU!!

The next morning we headed to Farmington. After arriving at home we had some lunch and had some friends help unload the furniture into our house. We spent the next few days arranging the house and getting decorating for Christmas.

Jonathan left Wednesday to fly back to OKC. He's a mentor with COP and went for an info. dinner with OU students. He arrived home Thursday morning and now, we're both ready to crash and relax!!!!!!

I'm exhausted reliving that!! :)
